Websites with a clearer point of view.
Foreground Designs is a boutique design studio crafting considered websites and brand identities for small businesses and creative freelancers — the kind of care big agencies can't offer, the kind of thinking templates can't replicate.
We're a small studio with a simple belief: good design is a long-term investment, not a deliverable.
Based in Edmonton, Foreground Designs partners with small businesses and creative freelancers who want their brand online to feel as considered as the work they do offline.
We're selective about the projects we take on — not because we're hard to reach, but because we believe good websites come from real partnership, not production lines. When we work with you, we're actually paying attention. You're not a ticket in a queue.
We build in Webflow, Wix, and custom code — whichever fits your team, your budget, and how you want to update the site a year from now. The platform is a tool. The thinking is the work.

Standalone logo work for founders who aren't ready for a full identity system yet. A proper mark with rationale, variants, and the files you'll actually need.
-
04
Landing Pages
Single-page sites for launches, campaigns, or freelancers who need a polished home online without a full multi-page build. Fast to ship, easy to update, tuned for conversion.
Every project is custom-quoted.
We don't believe in one-size-fits-all packages — your business isn't generic, and your quote shouldn't be either. Tell us what you're working on and we'll come back with a clear scope and a clear number, usually within three business days.
A calm, four-phase process built around you.
-
I.
Discover
We start with questions — lots of them. A detailed questionnaire followed by a conversation so we actually understand your vision, your audience, and what "done well" looks like for you.
-
II.
Define
We share back what we heard — a written brief, a proposed direction, and a clear scope. Nothing moves forward until you're confident the plan fits.
-
III.
Design & Build
Iterative design and development in your platform of choice. You see progress weekly, give structured feedback, and stay close to the work without being buried in Figma files.
-
IV.
Launch & Support
QA, SEO setup, analytics, and a clean handover. We stick around for 30 days post-launch to catch anything that comes up.
Our philosophy, in four principles.
Listen first.
The best briefs come from honest conversations, not fillable forms alone. We ask questions until the picture is clear — then we start designing.
Restraint beats clutter.
Good websites leave things out. We'd rather ship one page that works than ten pages that dilute the message. Clarity is the compliment we're after.
Support should feel simple.
Some clients want full control. Others would rather stay hands-off. We build flexible systems and stay available when updates, changes, or support are needed.
Craft is in the details.
The spacing, the hierarchy, the way a button feels when you hover over it. Nobody names those things in a brief, but everybody feels them on the page. That's where we put the time.
Questions we get before the first call.
The things people ask most often. If your question is not here, the contact form below is the fastest way to get an answer.
-
How long does a typical website project take?
Most websites we build go from kickoff to launch in 4 to 8 weeks. Brand-and-logo projects without a site usually take 2 to 4 weeks; full custom builds with several page types or a CMS land closer to 8. We agree on a timeline at the start, in writing, and we hold it.
-
What does a custom website cost?
Every project is custom-quoted because no two businesses need the same thing. The price ranges based on scope — number of pages, design complexity, whether we are also building the brand identity, and whether you need a CMS to edit content yourself. The fastest way to get a real number is a discovery call; we will come back with a scope and a price within three business days.
-
Do you only work with clients in Edmonton?
No. We are based in Edmonton, but we work with small businesses all across Canada. Discovery calls, design reviews, and handoff all work over video. If you happen to be local and want to meet in person, we are glad to.
-
Will I be able to update the site myself after launch?
Yes, for the parts you will actually want to change. We build most sites so you can edit page text, swap images, update prices, or add blog posts on your own — usually through a friendly CMS. Bigger structural changes such as new page types or new layouts come back to us. We walk you through everything before handoff and stay on call for the first month at no extra cost.
-
Do you build on WordPress, Webflow, or custom code?
It depends on what the project actually needs. Sites that need to load fast, stay secure for years, and look polished without you touching them, we build custom in clean HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and deploy to Netlify. Sites that need frequent content updates by a non-technical team often land on Webflow or a headless CMS. We pick the tool that fits the job, not the one we happen to like.
-
What happens after the site launches?
Launch is the start of the relationship, not the end. The first month after launch we are on call for fixes and small adjustments at no extra cost. After that, ongoing support is month-to-month — most clients keep us on for an hour or two a month for tweaks, content updates, and the occasional new feature.

Let's talk.
We take on a limited number of projects each quarter so every client gets our full attention. Tell us about your business, your timeline, and what you'd like the new site to do for you — we'll be in touch within three business days.
